Traditional Gulf Sago Dessert Recipe with Rose Water and Saf

Sago is a traditional Gulf dessert best served with Arabic coffee. It consists of white granules extracted from the sago palm in Southeast Asian countries.
Ingredients:
- 1 bag soaked sago (400 g).
- 1/2 cup sugar, or to taste.
- 2 cups hot water.
- 1/2 cup rose water.
- 1 cup oil.
- 1 stick butter.
- Cardamom.
- Saffron.
Method:
- Wash the sago and soak it in water. Put the sugar in a pot over low heat, without stirring, until it turns golden.
- Then add half of the water and cover the pot until the sugar dissolves.
- Add the oil, butter, and saffron with the remaining water, then add the sago and stir until well combined.
- Add the cardamom and rose water, cover the pot, and leave it over low heat for 15–30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
For garnish, decorate the dish with nuts such as walnuts, pistachios, cashews, and almonds before serving.
